YCPCD’s main focus is to uphold the Colorado Noxious Weed Act and to control the noxious weeds listed by Yuma County. YCPCD has also established a grasshopper control program. This program is a cost share program for grasshopper control on range, pasture, and grasslands. YCPCD established a Black-tailed prairie dog mitigation/cost share program in 2006. 

Noxious Weed Program

-YCPCD offers a cost share program on equipment and herbicide.


-YCPCD can help landowners identify noxious/invasive weeds and recommend a management practice.


-YCPCD can help landowners with long range noxious weed management plans.


-YCPCD is a commercial applicator and can make herbicide applications on private property.


-YCPCD controls noxious weeds on county rights-of-ways.

Black-tailed Prairie Dog Program

-YCPCD will cost share on equipment, bait, and commercial applications.


-YCPCD is a commercial applicator and can control Black-tailed prairie dogs when requested by a landowner.

Grasshopper Program


At the discretion of the YCPCD Board of Directors, they will decide on a yearly basis if we will do a cost share on grasshopper spraying depending on the availability of program funding.

-YCPCD will cost share on applications made to rangeland, pasture, or grassland.

-YCPCD and USDA APHIS will map infestations for landowners.

-YCPCD will help outline different control methods for landowners.

-YCPCD can help landowners figure out the economic threshold for grasshopper control.
